Photo by US Quidditch. Maryland Quidditch defeated the Warriors 110*-70 on Sunday, November 20 to take home their third Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship title in Fruitland, Maryland.

The University of Maryland team went undefeated on day one of Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship and was the top seed coming out of pool play. They beat University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Quidditch in the semi-finals, 140*-50, securing their spot in the championship match on Sunday evening. In the final, Maryland defeated the Warriors in a fast paced match that lasted 21 minutes and 26 seconds. The final score was 110*-70, with a snitch grab by Maryland seeker Brandon Hutton. Head referee Austin Pitts oversaw the final match, with support from lead assistant referee Erin Mallory. The snitch runner was Ricky Nelson.

19 teams participated in the regional championship, which took place at Fruitland Recreational Park in Wicomico County, Maryland November 19-20, 2016. The final standings will be available later this week. Teams in bold are US Quidditch Cup 10 qualifiers. They will be among the 60 teams nationally that have received a spot to compete for the tenth national championship in Kissimmee, Florida over April 8 and 9, 2017.
