Texas Quidditch won the collegiate division title at US Quidditch Cup 12. Founded in the Fall of 2010 at the University of Texas at Austin, they went 4-0 in pool play, and were ranked fourth coming out of Swiss. Texas Quidditch beat Texas State University – San Marcos 140*-60 in the semi-finals  to advance to the championship match. Texas Quidditch ultimately defeated the number seven ranked team Cal Quidditch, the collegiate team comprised of students from the University of California, Berkeley. Texas Quidditch defeated Cal Quidditch 150*-40.

The head referee for the collegiate championship match was Alex Amodol. The snitch for the championship match was Anthony Hawkins, who was also presented with the “Most Fly Snitch” award.


Texas Cavalry won the community division title at this year’s US Quidditch Cup. Texas Cavalry is a community team founded in 2015 and based out of Austin, TX. They went undefeated in pool play at US Quidditch Cup 12, and were the 2nd seed overall coming into the community division bracket. They beat Boom Train (a community team based out of Chicago and Milwaukee) 130*-0 to advance to the championship match. In the finals, Texas Cavalry faced off against the number 1 seeded team Texas Hill Country Heat, another community team based out of Austin, TX that was founded in 2018. After a hard fought match, Texas Cavalry pulled the snitch to end the game 120*-100.

The head referee for the community championship match was the 2018-2019 Referee of the Year, Ricky Nelson. The snitch was Adil Abdalla.


83 teams participated in the national championship, which took place at Round Rock Multipurpose Complex in Round Rock, Texas on April 13-14, 2019. The 2018-2019 season and its national championship is the second year to feature the two separate divisions for collegiate and community teams. Scores from the tournament can be found here.
